Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB- TradesA+ FutureB-
The Dolphins won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Dolphins shredded theirs for Quincy Riley. He came off 55 spots early, and the room will hear about it.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. With wide receiver, edge rusher and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.

They banked enough surplus on Winston Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins. Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Jahdae Barron
In No. 13 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. More want than need.
Pick48 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
They liked Alfred Collins enough to skip the value, taking him in the 48th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick72 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Good price on Donovan Jackson in slot 72, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick116 Rnd4 Kevin Winston Jr.
They barely believed it either: Kevin Winston Jr. still on the board at pick No. 116. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick124 Rnd4 Quincy Riley
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick 124 on Quincy Riley with wide receiver, edge rusher and other spots unsolved.
Pick150 Rnd5 Luke Kandra
No edge and no loss on Luke Kandra in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick155 Rnd5 Kurtis Rourke
A tidy bit of business in the 155th pick, where Kurtis Rourke graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick192 Rnd6 CJ West
CJ West in slot 192 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
