The board owed the Giants one, and it paid up: Jaylin Lane, the No. 119 name on the board, sitting there at pick 154 like a gift left on the doorstep. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

Reaching for Wilson left real value on the table behind him. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with safety chief among the fixes.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
