FutureB-
The Patriots finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B+. Start where it matters. The Patriots took Caleb Williams to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. Landing Van Pran that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick3
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In the 3rd overall pick they get their quarterback of the future. A real need, handled.
Pick35
Rnd2
Troy Franklin
Troy Franklin at slot 35 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick72
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Sedrick Van Pran for less than the market said. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick103
Rnd4
Payton Wilson
They did well to land Payton Wilson in pick 103, just ahead of his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
