Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Steelers: C+.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Steelers did exactly that with Kimani Vidal in pick No. 195. A mixed bag that lands at C+.

With quarterback, safety and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on offensive lineman is the choice that costs them. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Jackson Powers-Johnson
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a building block for the line, reach and all. More want than need.
Pick51 Rnd2 T.J. Tampa
T.J. Tampa at pick 51 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick84 Rnd3 Leonard Taylor III
They left a pile of value on the table to take Leonard Taylor III this early at slot 84. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick98 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
A want over a need in No. 98: Christian Mahogany adds an offensive lineman while quarterback, safety and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick119 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick178 Rnd6 Garret Greenfield
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Garret Greenfield well ahead of where he belonged. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick195 Rnd6 Kimani Vidal
They reached a country mile for Kimani Vidal at the 195th pick, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
