Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The 49ers cashed the board's mistake on Stone: B+.

The rest of the league will want that one back. David Stone tumbling to the 49ers in No. 58 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

If Williams pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.

They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Trey'Dez Green
In pick No. 31 they get a red-zone target to build around, outstanding value to boot.
Pick58 Rnd2 David Stone
David Stone in the 58th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick92 Rnd3 Addison Nichols
A quiet steal in Round 3, Pick 28: Addison Nichols for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick108 Rnd4 Amaris Williams
They left a pile of value on the table to take Amaris Williams this early at slot 108. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick127 Rnd4 Eli Bowen
They did well to land Eli Bowen in No. 127, just ahead of his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick133 Rnd4 Lawson Luckie
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Lawson Luckie. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick138 Rnd4 Sam Leavitt
By-the-book stuff, Sam Leavitt at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick171 Rnd5 Xavier Chaplin
Xavier Chaplin at pick 171 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick251 Rnd7 Dylan Braithwaite
A premium they did not need to pay, Dylan Braithwaite a notch or two before his time. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick255 Rnd7 Datrell Jones
Datrell Jones in pick 255 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
