Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedA- TradesA+ FutureB-
The Texans worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+.

The Texans treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending the 250th pick on Evan Anderson a full 45 spots early.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

The Gore Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The Tony Pollard deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In No. 23 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick59 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
The board had Chris Braswell higher than pick 59, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick86 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
A premium they did not need to pay, Christian Mahogany a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
Pick173 Rnd5 Khristian Boyd
They paid sticker price for Khristian Boyd in the 173rd overall pick, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick236 Rnd7 Garret Greenfield
They read the board right and Garret Greenfield was the payoff at the 236th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick245 Rnd7 Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. at slot 245 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick250 Rnd7 Evan Anderson
Evan Anderson in the Round 7 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
