Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB+ FutureC
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Texans.

There is a lot to like until you notice interior defensive lineman is still a hole. The Texans never got to the one that mattered most. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

The Gray pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. The trade work was a quiet net positive. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Kool-Aid McKinstry
In slot 26 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. More want than need.
Pick59 Rnd2 Kris Jenkins
A tidy bit of business in pick 59, where Kris Jenkins graded well above the range. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick86 Rnd3 Dominick Puni
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dominick Puni. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick123 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
Isaac Guerendo in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick127 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
Value with a capital V on Cedric Gray in No. 127, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick188 Rnd6 Tahj Washington
A straight-up fair deal on Tahj Washington at the 188th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick247 Rnd7 Josh Proctor
A reasonable price with a little left over, Josh Proctor in Round 7, Pick 27. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
