Caveman DRAFTING FOR THETexans

Draft Grade — Texans
Overall

TradesB-
FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Texans and Hadden: B-. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Texans did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to running back, which was the need that mattered most. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Hadden falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Every board in the league had Keegan lower, and that gap is the story.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick42
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan in the 42nd overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick59
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Worthy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick86
Rnd3
Renardo Green
A straight-up fair deal on Renardo Green at No. 86, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick123
Rnd4
McKinnley Jackson
McKinnley Jackson at pick No. 123 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick127
Rnd4
Trevor Keegan
They paid a round early for Trevor Keegan in Round 4, Pick 27, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick188
Rnd6
Kamal Hadden
Circle this one: Kamal Hadden at the 188th pick is a fall that decides a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick238
Rnd7
Trevin Wallace
A reasonable price with a little left over, Trevin Wallace in the 238th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick247
Rnd7
Tylan Grable
A slide stopped in the Round 7 slot, with Tylan Grable worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick252
Rnd7
Bub Means
Good price on Bub Means in pick 252, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
