Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B
ValueB NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Patriots, and a B to prove it.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Patriots did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to interior defensive lineman, which was the need that mattered most. The bottom line is a respectable B.

Every board in the league had Bryant lower, and that gap is the story. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Henderson.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In pick No. 4 they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick38 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Emeka Egbuka at Round 2, Pick 6. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick69 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
A quiet steal in slot 69: TreVeyon Henderson for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick77 Rnd3 Kyle Kennard
They paid sticker price for Kyle Kennard in pick 77, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick106 Rnd4 Cobee Bryant
A big swing on Cobee Bryant at No. 106, well ahead of any board in the building. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick144 Rnd5 Hollin Pierce
They did well to land Hollin Pierce in the 144th pick, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
