Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Packers checked most of the boxes and earned a B.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Packers took Tyler Baron a full 38 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

However the rest shakes out, Burden III at that price is a win they earned. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Will Johnson
In slot 23 they get an island corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick54 Rnd2 Luther Burden III
They barely believed it either: Luther Burden III still on the board at pick 54. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick87 Rnd3 Darius Alexander
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Darius Alexander. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick124 Rnd4 Tyler Baron
Tyler Baron at pick No. 124 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick159 Rnd5 Logan Brown
A slide stopped in Round 5, Pick 21, with Logan Brown worth more than the price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick198 Rnd6 Caleb Ransaw
A reach for Caleb Ransaw in No. 198; a little patience would have been rewarded. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick237 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
A real head-scratcher, Teddye Buchanan in No. 237 is miles ahead of his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick250 Rnd7 Phil Mafah
Phil Mafah at pick 250 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
