Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Cardinals, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.

They have staked the next five years on Michael Penix Jr., which is the only story that really matters here. The cost of the Trotter Jr. reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Getting Paul where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.
