Draft Grade — Bears
Overall

ValueB-

FutureF
The Bears bled value on every deal, hence the D. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bears shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They are betting Henderson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick2
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In pick 2 they get a No. 1 receiver. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In pick No. 9 they get a building block for the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick36
Rnd2
Jackson Powers-Johnson
A reach for Jackson Powers-Johnson in slot 36; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick75
Rnd3
Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick101
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson in the 101st pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick103
Rnd4
Ray Davis
By-the-book stuff, Ray Davis at Round 4, Pick 3 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick111
Rnd4
Isaiah Adams
A conviction pick on Isaiah Adams at No. 111 that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick123
Rnd4
James Williams
James Williams at the 123rd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick143
Rnd5
LaDarius Henderson
LaDarius Henderson at Round 5, Pick 7 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick181
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
No edge and no loss on Curtis Jacobs in the 181st pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick220
Rnd6
Erick All
Erick All at slot 220 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
