Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Commanders cashed the board's mistake on Belton: B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Anthony Belton tumbling to the Commanders in the Round 5 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

Jackson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.

Pick Analysis
Pick59 Rnd2 Kyle Kennard
They jumped the gun on Kyle Kennard, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick61 Rnd2 Darien Porter
The board had cheaper options than Darien Porter at No. 61, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
By-the-book stuff, Jayden Higgins at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick128 Rnd4 Cody Simon
No edge and no loss on Cody Simon in slot 128; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick132 Rnd4 Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce in Round 4, Pick 30 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick136 Rnd4 Bhayshul Tuten
Bhayshul Tuten at the 136th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick170 Rnd5 Anthony Belton
Circle this one: Anthony Belton at pick 170 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick205 Rnd6 KeAndre Lambert-Smith
Value with a capital V on KeAndre Lambert-Smith in pick No. 205, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick206 Rnd6 Cam Jackson
A big swing on Cam Jackson at the 206th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick245 Rnd7 Craig Woodson
Craig Woodson at No. 245 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
