Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA+ FutureC
The Bears won the night they stopped Fautanu from sliding. Grade: B.

Call it larceny. Troy Fautanu sat on the board until the 122nd pick, and the Bears did not need to be asked twice. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In pick 6 they get a premier pass rusher, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick9 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In No. 9 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick47 Rnd2 Troy Franklin
You do not let a wide receiver like Troy Franklin reach pick No. 47 and blink. They did not. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick75 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
They paid sticker price for Cooper Beebe in slot 75, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick110 Rnd4 Kamari Lassiter
A cornerback of that caliber at Round 4, Pick 10 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick122 Rnd4 Troy Fautanu
Steal is underselling it; Troy Fautanu at the 122nd pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick146 Rnd5 Spencer Rattler
They will replay Spencer Rattler at the 146th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
