The Howard reach set a tone the Titans could not shake: F.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Will Howard at pick No. 135 is 114 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.

However the rest shakes out, Henderson at that price is a win they earned. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.

It is not that Burke is a bad player; it is that the Titans had louder needs to answer first. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.
