Winston Jr. should have been long gone. The Buccaneers pounced, and earned a B-.

When a board-topper like Kevin Winston Jr. slides to Round 5, Pick 17, you do not overthink it, and the Buccaneers did not.

Every board in the league had Rucker lower, and that gap is the story. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with tight end chief among the fixes.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Shavon Revel Jr.
In pick No. 21 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick52 Rnd2 Colston Loveland
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Colston Loveland. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick83 Rnd3 Kaimon Rucker
They reached into another round for Kaimon Rucker, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick122 Rnd4 Barrett Carter
The board fumbled Barrett Carter all the way to pick 122, and they scooped it up. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick155 Rnd5 Kevin Winston Jr.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kevin Winston Jr. in the 155th pick, plain and simple. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
