Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB FutureB-
Grand theft in the 137th pick: the Cardinals steal Phillips and grade out a B.

The curious call sets the tone. With quarterback, tight end and other spots still glaring, the Cardinals used No. 105 on Cam Hart, a cornerback they were not exactly short of. The bottom line is a respectable B.

The Phillips value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Malik Nabers
In pick No. 5 they get a go-to option on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick27 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In the 27th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick35 Rnd2 Darius Robinson
Darius Robinson in pick 35 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick66 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mike Sainristil. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick69 Rnd3 Ricky Pearsall
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ricky Pearsall at the 69th pick is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick71 Rnd3 Kingsley Suamataia
Kingsley Suamataia is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick90 Rnd3 Gabriel Murphy
No drama and no debate, Gabriel Murphy went about where he belonged in slot 90. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick105 Rnd4 Cam Hart
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending No. 105 on Cam Hart with quarterback, tight end and other spots unsolved.
Pick137 Rnd5 Andru Phillips
Andru Phillips at pick No. 137 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick161 Rnd5 Grayson Murphy
By-the-book stuff, Grayson Murphy at the 161st pick squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick188 Rnd6 Kendall Milton
They paid sticker price for Kendall Milton in Round 6, Pick 13, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick222 Rnd7 JD Bertrand
A tidy bit of business in the 222nd overall pick, where JD Bertrand graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
Pick224 Rnd7 Josh Proctor
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Josh Proctor in pick 224. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick241 Rnd7 Tyler Owens
Tyler Owens at the Round 7 slot is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
