The Panthers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jalen Milroe, the No. 52 name on the board, in pick 102.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If Hairston pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.
