Draft Grade — Bills
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesB FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bills a B.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Que Robinson, 75 picks early at pick No. 179. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

Job largely done: linebacker settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered. The back end got a real overhaul.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick34 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Malaki Starks at slot 34 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick56 Rnd2 Benjamin Morrison
Benjamin Morrison is a better player than the 56th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick62 Rnd2 Deone Walker
No drama and no debate, Deone Walker went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 30. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick65 Rnd3 Donovan Ezeiruaku
Donovan Ezeiruaku in pick 65 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick155 Rnd5 Darius Alexander
Taking Darius Alexander in No. 155 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick171 Rnd5 Dorian Strong
They paid sticker price for Dorian Strong in the 171st overall pick, and that is fine. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick175 Rnd5 Lander Barton
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 175 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick179 Rnd6 Que Robinson
They reached into another round for Que Robinson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
Pick206 Rnd6 Quincy Riley
The board fumbled Quincy Riley all the way to pick 206, and they scooped it up. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick208 Rnd6 LaJohntay Wester
A big swing on LaJohntay Wester at slot 208, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
