FutureB-
Larceny in pick 237 lands the Packers a B+, White III and all. The real work happened on the phones. The Packers fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. Call it a sensible B+, earned the boring way.
White III falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Reaching for Dike left real value on the table behind him.
Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Joshua Williams deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, outstanding value to boot.
Pick33
Rnd2
Shavon Revel Jr.
The board had Shavon Revel Jr. higher than slot 33, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick87
Rnd3
Chimere Dike
Chimere Dike at the 87th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick104
Rnd4
Danny Stutsman
They barely believed it either: Danny Stutsman still on the board at No. 104. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick124
Rnd4
Anthony Belton
A tidy bit of business in the Round 4 slot, where Anthony Belton graded well above the range. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick133
Rnd4
Nohl Williams
Nohl Williams in pick No. 133 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick171
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at slot 171 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick198
Rnd6
JJ Pegues
Quietly one of the better values of the day, JJ Pegues at the 198th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick211
Rnd6
Addison West
They took Addison West at par in No. 211, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Pick237
Rnd7
Ricky White III
Circle this one: Ricky White III at pick 237 is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick250
Rnd7
Bilhal Kone
Taking Bilhal Kone in the 250th pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
