Ward is the 49ers' new face under center. Grade: D+.

The 49ers torched the value chart for Phillip Webb, taking him 102 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Put together, it is a D+.

So much rides on Cam Ward that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

However the rest shakes out, Skattebo at that price is a win they earned.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and tight end is still a hole.
