They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. J.J. McCarthy is the Seahawks' quarterback, full stop. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

The cost of the McCarthy reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Rice falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
