The Patriots won the night they stopped Burke from sliding. Grade: B-.

Somebody in No. 144 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Patriots sat still while Denzel Burke, the No. 115 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They will need Jackson to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
