Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesC- FutureA+
More right than wrong for the Cardinals, and a B to prove it.

Priorities are a choice, and the Cardinals made a strange one, taking Caelen Carson at cornerback in No. 90 with quarterback, running back and other spots crying out for the pick instead. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Landing DeJean that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The hoard sets up next April more than it helps this September.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
Dallas Turner at slot 12 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick27 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Cooper DeJean
A slide stopped in No. 35, with Cooper DeJean worth more than the price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick66 Rnd3 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jeremiah Trotter Jr.. The roster fit checks out.
Pick72 Rnd3 Ja'Lynn Polk
No edge and no loss on Ja'Lynn Polk in pick No. 72; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick90 Rnd3 Caelen Carson
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Caelen Carson in Round 3, Pick 27 leaves quarterback, running back and other spots for later.
Pick104 Rnd4 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany at the 104th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick135 Rnd4 Jamari Thrash
Jamari Thrash at the 135th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
