A masterclass at the trade table lands the Steelers a B.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Steelers were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They banked enough surplus on Melton to cover a lot of smaller sins. Every board in the league had Eichenberg lower, and that gap is the story.

The Steelers indulged a want in Van Pran while a need in quarterback, edge rusher and other spots stayed open.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Amarius Mims at No. 28 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick29 Rnd1 Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
In slot 29 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.

The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went offensive lineman with Sedrick Van Pran while clear needs at quarterback, edge rusher and other spots sat open.

A straight-up fair deal on Michael Hall Jr. at pick No. 84, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.

A tidy little value on Calen Bullock in pick 89, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
