You can draft well and still miss the point. The Patriots did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

The veteran additions, Matthew Stafford chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
