Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Steelers.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Steelers started one anyway for Devin Leary, 69 picks ahead of schedule. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The Frazier pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots still on the board. They banked enough surplus on Ford to cover a lot of smaller sins.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 JC Latham
In No. 20 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value.
Pick51 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Zach Frazier at offensive lineman with interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots open.
Pick84 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
A reasonable price with a little left over, Roman Wilson in the Round 3 slot. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick120 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
A reach on Cedric Gray in pick 120; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick121 Rnd4 Cam Hart
They talked themselves into Cam Hart at slot 121, and the board did not agree. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick197 Rnd6 Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford is a better player than the 197th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick238 Rnd7 Devin Leary
Devin Leary in No. 238 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
