If confidence were a draft strategy, the 49ers would have aced it. Jalin Conyers at pick 249 is 133 spots clear of where he belonged. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.

Landing Shough that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.

So much rides on Walter Nolen that the real verdict is a season or two away.
