Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB- TradesF FutureC
A passer of the future in Williams, and a D-, for the Bears.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Bears, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.

Caleb Williams gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. With edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on DT-EDGE is the choice that costs them.

The Haynes pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
No drama and no debate, Caleb Williams went about where he belonged in pick No. 1. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick8 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the 8th pick they get protection for the quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In pick 9 they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick75 Rnd3 Christian Haynes
Christian Haynes slid further than he should have, and Round 3, Pick 11 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
Pick111 Rnd4 Maason Smith
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Maason Smith at DT-EDGE with edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots open.
Pick123 Rnd4 Renardo Green
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Renardo Green at slot 123. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick143 Rnd5 Ainias Smith
They let Ainias Smith come to them and pounced at the 143rd overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
