Draft Grade — Browns
Overall D+
ValueA NeedB+ TradesF FutureA
The Browns found their guy under center in Ward: D+.

Call it larceny. Jihaad Campbell sat on the board until pick 214, and the Browns did not need to be asked twice. A D+ that will need time and luck to look better.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Cam Ward is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick Analysis
Pick4 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In pick 4 they get their guy under center for the next decade. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Travis Hunter
Travis Hunter at the Round 2 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick36 Rnd2 Ashton Jeanty
Ashton Jeanty at slot 36 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick38 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
Walter Nolen in Round 2, Pick 6 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick67 Rnd3 Wyatt Milum
Wyatt Milum at pick No. 67 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick92 Rnd3 Nick Emmanwori
You do not let a safety like Nick Emmanwori reach the Round 3 slot and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick93 Rnd3 Tre Harris
Circle this one: Tre Harris at No. 93 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick103 Rnd4 Jalon Walker
They will replay Jalon Walker at the 103rd pick for years; that is how good the value is. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick167 Rnd5 Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery in pick 167 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Pick178 Rnd6 Dylan Fairchild
They barely believed it either: Dylan Fairchild still on the board at the 178th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick191 Rnd6 Josaiah Stewart
Josaiah Stewart in the 191st pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick203 Rnd6 Xavier Restrepo
Steal is underselling it; Xavier Restrepo at the 203rd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick214 Rnd6 Jihaad Campbell
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jihaad Campbell in No. 214, plain and simple. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
