The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Kamal Hadden fell into the Round 5 slot.

The Packers indulged a want in Smith while a need in quarterback, wide receiver and other spots stayed open. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Every board in the league had Benson lower, and that gap is the story.
