V DRAFTING FOR THECommanders

Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
B-
ValueC+

TradesB-
FutureB-
The Commanders did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. The Commanders went off the board in a big way for John Emery Jr., 183 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Mondon Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Mike Green
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptor off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick61
Rnd2
Tre Harris
Tre Harris in Round 2, Pick 29 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick128
Rnd4
Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. at pick 128 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick205
Rnd6
Caleb Rogers
A reasonable price with a little left over, Caleb Rogers in slot 205. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick245
Rnd7
John Emery Jr.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for John Emery Jr.. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
