Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Texans let Greene III fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Earnest Greene III, the No. 98 name on the board, sitting there at slot 120 like a gift left on the doorstep. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Denzel Burke
In pick 24 they get a press-man option on the boundary. Need was not the driver here.
Pick41 Rnd2 Jack Sawyer
Jack Sawyer at pick No. 41 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick56 Rnd2 Aeneas Peebles
A straight-up fair deal on Aeneas Peebles at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick88 Rnd3 Dillon Gabriel
Dillon Gabriel at slot 88 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick120 Rnd4 Earnest Greene III
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Earnest Greene III in No. 120, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick155 Rnd5 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles at the 155th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick216 Rnd7 Ben Bywater
They did well to land Ben Bywater in the 216th pick, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
