Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Texans let Uiagalelei fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: DJ Uiagalelei, the No. 109 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 155 like a gift left on the doorstep. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

The cost of the Collins reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Denzel Burke
In pick No. 24 they get a lockdown presence outside. Need was not the driver here.
Pick41 Rnd2 Princely Umanmielen
Princely Umanmielen slipping to the 41st pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick56 Rnd2 Kevin Winston Jr.
A safety of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick88 Rnd3 Jay Higgins
They did well to land Jay Higgins in pick 88, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick120 Rnd4 Alfred Collins
They reached into another round for Alfred Collins, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick155 Rnd5 DJ Uiagalelei
The board fumbled DJ Uiagalelei all the way to No. 155, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
Pick216 Rnd7 Tristan Leigh
A slide stopped in slot 216, with Tristan Leigh worth more than the price. A need, and now a little less of one.
