FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Texans. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Texans never addressed running back, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
Gadsden II has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Perkins Jr. falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Harold Perkins Jr.
In the 24th overall pick they get a green-dot type in the middle, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Mykel Williams
Mykel Williams at pick No. 41 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick56
Rnd2
Josh Conerly Jr.
Josh Conerly Jr. in Round 2, Pick 24 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick88
Rnd3
Jason Marshall Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Jason Marshall Jr. at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick120
Rnd4
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at No. 120 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick155
Rnd5
Alfred Collins
A reach on Alfred Collins in slot 155; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick216
Rnd7
Oronde Gadsden II
This one needs a full-page explanation: Oronde Gadsden II in the 216th pick, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
