Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Texans for Leonard: B-.

The Texans spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Riley Leonard, the No. 92 name on the board, in pick No. 155. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

If Corcoran pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Jack Sawyer
In the 24th pick they get a double-digit-sack hope. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick41 Rnd2 Barrett Carter
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Barrett Carter. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick56 Rnd2 Jordan Hancock
They paid up for Jordan Hancock at Round 2, Pick 24 when waiting would have done the job. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick88 Rnd3 Rod Moore
Taking Rod Moore in No. 88 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick120 Rnd4 Tonka Hemingway
Tonka Hemingway in the Round 4 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick155 Rnd5 Riley Leonard
Riley Leonard at the 155th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
Pick216 Rnd7 Turner Corcoran
They reached a country mile for Turner Corcoran at slot 216, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
