Edwards should have been long gone. The Texans pounced, and earned a B-. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Donovan Edwards, the No. 84 name on the board, stolen at pick 120. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Every board in the league had Corcoran lower, and that gap is the story. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Denzel Burke
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
Pick41
Rnd2
Landon Jackson
A clean, defensible pick in No. 41 with a little surplus value in Landon Jackson. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick56
Rnd2
Barrett Carter
Value with a capital V on Barrett Carter in pick No. 56, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick88
Rnd3
Sonny Styles
They did well to land Sonny Styles in slot 88, just ahead of his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick120
Rnd4
Donovan Edwards
Steal is underselling it; Donovan Edwards at the Round 4 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick155
Rnd5
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at the 155th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick216
Rnd7
Turner Corcoran
Turner Corcoran in the 216th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
