Draft Grade — Texans

The Texans cashed the board's mistake on Gabriel: B. You build a draft on nights like this. Dillon Gabriel had no business being available in the Round 4 slot, and the Texans did the only sane thing and turned in the card. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
Every board in the league had Gadsden II lower, and that gap is the story. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Emeka Egbuka
In the 24th pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41
Rnd2
Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke in No. 41 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick56
Rnd2
Josh Conerly Jr.
No edge and no loss on Josh Conerly Jr. in Round 2, Pick 24; it is a wash and a sensible one. The roster fit checks out.
Pick88
Rnd3
Rod Moore
They will replay Rod Moore at slot 88 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick120
Rnd4
Dillon Gabriel
They robbed the room for Dillon Gabriel here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Pick155
Rnd5
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at pick 155 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick216
Rnd7
Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II in the 216th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
