Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-

Best value of the weekend goes to the Texans for Jacas: B-.

Thirty-one other rooms let Gabe Jacas slide, and the Texans were the ones holding the card at pick No. 155. Highway robbery. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Harold Perkins Jr.
Harold Perkins Jr. slipping to pick 24 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick41 Rnd2 Tacario Davis
A cornerback of that caliber at the 41st pick is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick56 Rnd2 Josh Conerly Jr.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Josh Conerly Jr.. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick88 Rnd3 Nazir Stackhouse
By-the-book stuff, Nazir Stackhouse at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick120 Rnd4 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at Round 4, Pick 24 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick155 Rnd5 Gabe Jacas
Taking Gabe Jacas in the 155th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick216 Rnd7 Jalon Daniels
Jalon Daniels at slot 216 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
