Larceny in pick 155 lands the Texans a B-, Ward and all.

Call it larceny. Cameron Ward sat on the board until slot 155, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice.

The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. If Gadsden II pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Job largely done: interior defensive lineman settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Harold Perkins Jr.
In the 24th overall pick they get the heartbeat of the defense at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick41 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
No edge and no loss on Walter Nolen in pick No. 41; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick56 Rnd2 Jordan Hancock
They paid up for Jordan Hancock at slot 56 when waiting would have done the job. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick88 Rnd3 Josh Simmons
Value with a capital V on Josh Simmons in pick 88, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Pick120 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
They let Malachi Moore come to them and pounced at No. 120. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick155 Rnd5 Cameron Ward
You do not let a quarterback like Cameron Ward reach Round 5, Pick 27 and blink. They did not. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick216 Rnd7 Oronde Gadsden II
They talked themselves into Oronde Gadsden II at the 216th pick, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
