Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Texans did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

For all the boxes ticked, the Texans skipped the loudest one: running back is exactly as bare as it was.

They banked enough surplus on Daniels to cover a lot of smaller sins. The cost of the Monheim reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Harold Perkins Jr.
Harold Perkins Jr. slid further than he should have, and Round 1, Pick 24 is lovely value for the linebacker. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick41 Rnd2 Mykel Williams
They took Mykel Williams at par in No. 41, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick56 Rnd2 Jordan Hancock
Jordan Hancock at the 56th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick88 Rnd3 Sebastian Castro
Nice patience on Sebastian Castro, who had no business lasting to the 88th overall pick. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick120 Rnd4 Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim at pick 120 is a conviction pick that outran the value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick155 Rnd5 Alfred Collins
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Alfred Collins. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick216 Rnd7 Jalon Daniels
They let Jalon Daniels come to them and pounced at the Round 7 slot. It fills a real need, too.
