Good, not great, for the Texans: B-.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Texans started one anyway for Mason Fairchild, 79 picks ahead of schedule. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

However the rest shakes out, Jones at that price is a win they earned. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Byron Murphy II
In the 23rd pick they get a load in the middle. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick59 Rnd2 Brandon Dorlus
Brandon Dorlus at the 59th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick85 Rnd3 Malachi Corley
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Malachi Corley in slot 85. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick124 Rnd4 Max Melton
A quiet steal in Round 4, Pick 24: Max Melton for less than the market said. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick128 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
The board had cheaper options than Cedric Gray at No. 128, and it noticed. It fills a real need, too.
Pick161 Rnd5 Renardo Green
Renardo Green at the Round 5 slot is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick236 Rnd7 Christian Jones
The board fumbled Christian Jones all the way to slot 236, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick245 Rnd7 Mason Fairchild
They reached into another round for Mason Fairchild, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The roster fit checks out.
