Draft Grade — Texans
Overall

ValueB-

FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Texans a B-. They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Leonard Taylor III, 28 picks early at the 85th pick. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The Clark pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick23
Rnd1
Kool-Aid McKinstry
In pick 23 they get a press-man option on the boundary. More want than need.
Pick59
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
Nothing to complain about; Edgerrin Cooper went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick85
Rnd3
Leonard Taylor III
They reached a country mile for Leonard Taylor III at the 85th pick, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick124
Rnd4
Nelson Ceaser
Value with a capital V on Nelson Ceaser in No. 124, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick128
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
They liked Ben Sinnott enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 4 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick161
Rnd5
Renardo Green
Renardo Green slid further than he should have, and slot 161 is lovely value for the safety. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick236
Rnd7
De'Corian Clark
You do not let a wide receiver like De'Corian Clark reach No. 236 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick245
Rnd7
Dylan McMahon
Dylan McMahon in the Round 7 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
