Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Texans: B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Texans reached some 81 spots for Devin Culp, and value like that does not grow back. The bottom line is a respectable B-.

That Rice pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
In the 23rd overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside. More want than need.
Pick59 Rnd2 Braden Fiske
A clean, defensible pick in pick 59 with a little surplus value in Braden Fiske. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick86 Rnd3 Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks in the Round 3 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick124 Rnd4 Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in the 124th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick128 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
A conviction pick on Tommy Eichenberg at Round 4, Pick 28 that the board grades a round light. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick236 Rnd7 KT Leveston
KT Leveston at slot 236 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick245 Rnd7 J.J. Weaver
J.J. Weaver at pick 245 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick250 Rnd7 Devin Culp
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Devin Culp. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
