Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Texans.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Texans shredded theirs for Frank Crum. He came off 75 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hardy. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Brian Thomas Jr.
Brian Thomas Jr. at pick No. 23 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick59 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper slid further than he should have, and No. 59 is lovely value for the linebacker. It fills a real need, too.
Pick86 Rnd3 Leonard Taylor III
Leonard Taylor III at Round 3, Pick 23 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick124 Rnd4 Mohamed Kamara
No edge and no loss on Mohamed Kamara in pick 124; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick128 Rnd4 Kalen King
They paid up for Kalen King at slot 128 when waiting would have done the job. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick236 Rnd7 Daequan Hardy
Somehow Daequan Hardy was still sitting there in the Round 7 slot, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick245 Rnd7 Frank Crum
A wild overpay on Frank Crum in pick 245, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick250 Rnd7 Trey Knox
Trey Knox in slot 250 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
