You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Vikings did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. A D+ that will need time and luck to look better.

They banked enough surplus on Skattebo to cover a lot of smaller sins. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

They trusted the board more than the depth chart.

In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
