The Vikings left with their quarterback, and a F to match. The Vikings torched the value chart for Frank Gore Jr., taking him 34 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The Vikings indulged a want in Solomon while a need in wide receiver and tight end stayed open.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. That is a safety worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
About as rough as a weekend gets on paper, with wide receiver still staring back at them.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick22
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In No. 22 they get a double-digit-sack hope at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick42
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
No drama and no debate, T'Vondre Sweat went about where he belonged in pick 42. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick50
Rnd2
Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil at pick No. 50 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick109
Rnd4
Javon Solomon
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Javon Solomon at OLB-EDGE with wide receiver and tight end open.
Pick130
Rnd4
Cody Schrader
A big swing on Cody Schrader at the 130th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick156
Rnd5
Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten at Round 5, Pick 20 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick166
Rnd5
Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan in the 166th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick179
Rnd6
Kitan Oladapo
Kitan Oladapo in pick 179 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick190
Rnd6
Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. at slot 190 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
