Draft Grade — Giants

FutureB-
The Giants left with their quarterback, and a D+ to match. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Giants did exactly that with Jalen Travis in No. 246. It grades a D+, and the process earned it.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. Everything downstream of Cam Ward depends on Cam Ward, and the building knows it. Emmanwori at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Cam Ward
In the 5th pick they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick34
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Booker at No. 34, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick65
Rnd3
Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at the 65th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick66
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Donovan Jackson. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick70
Rnd3
Tre Harris
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tre Harris at pick No. 70 is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick99
Rnd3
Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander in pick 99 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick105
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander in pick 105 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick107
Rnd4
Jalen Milroe
They let Jalen Milroe come to them and pounced at the 107th overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jah Joyner
Jah Joyner at No. 154 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick194
Rnd6
Bhayshul Tuten
Taking Bhayshul Tuten in slot 194 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick219
Rnd7
Teddye Buchanan
A real head-scratcher, Teddye Buchanan in the 219th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick246
Rnd7
Jalen Travis
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jalen Travis in the Round 7 slot, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
