Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureC
Quarterback settled, Ward in the fold, and a D- for the Seahawks.

The tape said wait; the Seahawks did not. Trey Zuhn III went at pick 134, a good 72 picks before the board was ready.

Getting Sampson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The whole projection now runs through Cam Ward; hit there and everything else looks smarter.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. For all the activity, linebacker went untouched, which is hard to explain.

It is a win-now wager, and the future is the stake.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and linebacker is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Cam Ward
In the 6th overall pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick25 Rnd1 Mike Green
In the Round 1 slot they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick37 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
No drama and no debate, Tyler Booker went about where he belonged in slot 37. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick65 Rnd3 Tre Harris
Tre Harris at pick No. 65 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick82 Rnd3 Malaki Starks
They robbed the room for Malaki Starks here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick104 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Jake Majors at the 104th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick134 Rnd4 Trey Zuhn III
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trey Zuhn III in pick 134, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick137 Rnd4 Nazir Stackhouse
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nazir Stackhouse well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
Pick155 Rnd5 Xavier Scott
They went early on Xavier Scott in slot 155, and the value did not follow. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick173 Rnd5 Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson in the 173rd overall pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick187 Rnd6 Cam Skattebo
Taking Cam Skattebo in No. 187 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick212 Rnd6 Ja'Corey Brooks
Ja'Corey Brooks at the 212th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick236 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
Luke Lachey in Round 7, Pick 18 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
