Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesC FutureB
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Vikings and Nwankpa: B-.

The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Xavier Nwankpa, pick 75, roughly 24 picks past where he belonged.

The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Green pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend.

Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In pick 11 they get a sticky cover corner, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick60 Rnd2 TreVeyon Henderson
A quiet steal in slot 60: TreVeyon Henderson for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick75 Rnd3 Xavier Nwankpa
They robbed the room for Xavier Nwankpa here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick107 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
No drama and no debate, Smael Mondon Jr. went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick139 Rnd5 Ricky White
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick No. 139 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick163 Rnd6 Zion Nelson
Nice patience on Zion Nelson, who had no business lasting to the 163rd overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick171 Rnd6 DJ Uiagalelei
DJ Uiagalelei at the 171st pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick194 Rnd7 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
Antwaun Powell-Ryland is a better player than Round 7, Pick 2 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick203 Rnd7 Keaten Wade
By-the-book stuff, Keaten Wade at the 203rd pick squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick219 Rnd7 Seth McLaughlin
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 219 with a little surplus value in Seth McLaughlin. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick220 Rnd7 Nyland Green
A reach for Nyland Green in slot 220; a little patience would have been rewarded. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
